10 Essential Skills For Customer Service Personnel

In Customer Service on September 14, 2011 by powerthought4today

World class customer service expectation goes beyond your ability to do brilliant basics, that is, what the customer requires, but it must surpass these expectations. In this age of overwhelming complexity in terms of knowledgeable customers who know what they want and what to expect, companies can no longer afford to have customer service people who are not self – motivated and who do not know what they are doing. I say this because a person cannot give what they do not have. The service you give your customers is a reflection of who you are.

I have identified ten qualities of exceptional customer service people who will win with customers.

1. If you are going to be an exceptional customer service agent you must have a personable, amiable friendly and generally pleasant character.
2. People that exude confidence will also impart that confidence. A customer will go away with an assurance that something will be done about their problem.
3. The ability to think outside the box is a rare quality. When confronted with a difficult situation people who think outside the box do not limit themselves and their options because they realise that they are empowered to do the right thing for the customer. You may be required to make a decision on the spot with no one around to either advise you or grant you permission.
4. Honesty really is the best policy. Some people in an attempt to appease an angry customer will promise that customer things that will never happen, just to get the customer off their back. I encourage you to cultivate honesty and truthfulness in all your dealings and not just at work. I guarantee that you’ll be a happy person and you will have happier customers.
5. You must be a good communicator who listens actively and seeks to understand first before taking action. Active listen precedes good decision making.
6. Exceptional service providers build positive relationships for long – term profitability by being responsive to customer needs.
7. They handle customer complaints to their satisfaction and asks the customer if they were satisfied with the help they received.
8. Customer service people must take responsibility and execute ordinary mundane tasks in an extraordinary fashion. applying their creativity to the task at hand.
8. They must maintain a positive, compassionate, caring and helpful attitude
9. These individuals understand that what works for one customer may not work for the other, so they abandon a “one size fits all” approach and address specific needs.
10. Brilliant customer service people understand the golden rule and apply it. They treat other people the way they want to be treated. They will go beyond their call of duty because in a reversal of roles they would expect that same excellence to be applied to them.

I appreciate that there are more qualities of customer service people, but that will be for another article on another day. I pray that you find this information useful and helpful as you thrive to arrive at your customer satisfaction goals.

True Friendship – 8 Insights on the Nature of True Friendship

In Relationships on March 9, 2011 by powerthought4today

In this world today where people have become so competitive and self – centered, true friendship is something that is to be valued and cherished. It is the kind of friendship that puts oneself at risk for the sake of another. I am reminded of a prince called Jonathan, the son of King Saul who harbored a fugitive named David whom his father wanted to kill. Jonathan had to choose who to be loyal to; his father or his friend. The strength of this friendship prevailed in the face of danger. David survived the evil plan of Saul because of Jonathan’s friendship. This covenant friendship resulted in Mephibosheth being shown favor by King David long after his grandfather had been deposed and deceased. I believe true friends, who are not so because of convenience, still exist. I write this article as a tribute to them as I share eight insights on the nature of such uncommon association.

1. It doesn’t matter how long true friends have been out of touch, they will reconnect and carry on as if there has been no passage of time. Such friendships stand the test of time and tribulation. It is the stuff that lifetime partnerships in business and ministry, for example, are made of.

2. Geographical location does not demarcate nor distance these kinds of uncommon associations. Jonathan was located in the palace and David in the wilderness, but that did not translate into isolation but revealed Jonathan’s determination to help his friend carry out his divine assignment.

3. True friends know and are interested in the work of God in you. Jonathan knew that his father (King Saul) had been rejected by God and King David had been anointed in his place. He was willing to serve his friend even at his father’s expense, because it served God’s purpose.

4. The Bible alludes to the fact that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, one who will be there in tough times and good times. I am reminded however of Job and his dubious friends who were not really encouraging him during the tough time he experienced. Desist from negative associations.

5. Everyone needs someone who will accept them as they are and not try to change them. The fact that we are very good “buddies” means that I am already qualified and I don’t need to prove a point or try to

6. Loving your neighbor as yourself and doing unto others as you would have them do unto you are the primary characteristics and foundation of friendships that are timeless, tested and true.

7. Friendships can make or destroy an individual; they are not to be entered into lightly because they can derail you from your destiny. Wisdom and Godly counsel found in the Bible encourages Christians not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.

8. Friends give life and add value to each other. The Lord Jesus had twelve of them, whom He taught everything that the father had taught him. These men went on spreading the gospel and carrying on the work He had started.

I encourage you to nurture friendships for the future, not those that are just for “old time’s sake”, which have faulty foundations.. Embrace friends that are faithful, dedicated and strong and you will most certainly become like those you hang around with. Remember if you play with puppies they will lick your mouth. Develop friendships that reflect your aspirations.  Fitzgerald Mujuru is an author motivational speaker, marketing consultant and musician. Motivation – Milestones, Moments That Made a Difference and Produced Progress and Change

In Motivation on February 24, 2011 by powerthought4today

A milestone is a landmark, highlight, achievement of an objective that stands out or simply a high – point in one’s experience. Momentum is impetus, drive, thrust, energy and it denotes force, forward movement or inertia. When you have accomplished something or a significant event happens, that is a milestone and it gives you thrust to move forward with force. It is the fuel for progress. It is the food of ambition and exploration.
Milestones create momentum and that momentum when maximized mark your progress and progress is not an end in itself but it takes you closer and closer to your destiny. I am reminded of pioneering moments. benchmarks, names, places, people who have defined who I am today. Organizations and movements that have helped me become the man who I have become. I cannot underestimate the powerful associations that came and left, some in a good way and others not so good.

I remember and chronicle some life – changing pioneering moments. I also pay tribute to what I call the sweet moments that reassured me that life is full of good things and yes they are still good people out there that care about others. Those angels who just want to do good to you not because you deserve it, but because it is in their hearts to do so.

1. I have a mental recall of my first mentor when I was in grade six in junior school. I may not remember the exact words he used to say and what he did that influenced me, but his input in my life triggered a process that created momentum, those many years ago in primary school and I’m still on the quest for greatness. He is largely responsible for my being born again.
2. I consider my first assignment at public speaking when I was asked to do a bible reading at school assembly. It planted in me a seed and now I imagine myself speaking to multitudes
3. I remember my first sale that triggered a passion for the sales and marketing profession. I had just finished school, unemployed and needing cash. I ventured into selling children’s books at a subsistence level. The demonstrated ability has helped me in building momentum over the years and I can lay claim to the fact that I am now a solid sales professional.p>
4. I remember the first time I strummed a guitar, sang in a variety show, talent show at school and how the one action instigated the pursuit of the musical gift and my discography grows. I believe I have done my ten thousand hours as a vocalist.
5. I also reminisce about the relationships I have had. Some brought joys, others sadness. I reflect on how it felt to be in that space and how those earlier experiences have taught now to treasure and not take for granted people who have extended the hand of favor, trust and affection to me. The dinners, dates and drinks were worth it. I am the man I am because of all those associations.
6. Great is the power of milestones. Each time there is a highlight, a high moment, the positive energy generated must create momentum for the next level.
7. Remember the first time you could ride a bicycle and the excitement and the belief that you developed. Is it any wonder that you went on to drive cars, trucks, buses, motorbikes.
8. I like to set milestones and I never get to a point where I have achieved everything because progress breeds progress and success breeds more success.

I never want to see myself as someone who is in a rat race because I am not competing with anyone. Instead I benchmark myself against my personal best and I am to better it all the time. I never want to see the things that happen in life as an end, but a part of the process in which all things work together for good.

Motivation – 10 Tips On Self Motivation

In Motivation on February 2, 2011 by powerthought4today

Motivation is not automatic. You have to have things that drive you. Your ability, skill or whatever you do is a vehicle and motivation is the driver that will take you to another place. What drives you?

I share ten tips on the subject of motivation.

1.Your greatest triumph comes from your greatest challenge, therefore you must be fired up to overcome the challenge because therein lies your turnaround, your breakthrough or even your destiny. David’s promotion lay in his defeating Goliath, therefore he had to summon his courage to step up to the plate and conquer the giant.
2.An urgency to see certain things that have never occurred before will cause you to “burn the midnight oil”, while others are asleep because you are determined to pioneer something. How desperate are you?
3. Relentless pursuit of an uncommon goal and desire will activate the creative juices in you in order for you to see the full manifestation of that thing you have been holding constant in your mind. You must be persistent
4. A positive outlook will move you from the “prison to palace”, as the story of Joseph in Egypt teaches us. He never looked back or backed down. Joseph focused on the big picture, that is his dream, and that kept him motivated and encouraged.
5. A mind that is made up causes one to lose all double – mindedness. When you decide to go crossover, to take over, burn the bridges and leave no room for backsliding and that will motivate you to do whatever it takes because you do not have a fall – back plan
6. Limiting and negative attitudes will de-motivate you, it is time to eliminate these because they will pull you backwards.
7. If your pain does not push you to do things differently, it is an ache you can live with. The memories of the past failures should not torment you, but instead should be used to drive you further.
8. Vision is necessary if you are going to be self – motivated. It goes beyond your current situation and sees what others do not see. Nurture your vision and let it guide you in spite of the obstacles in your way
9.Recognize all the uncommon investment that has gone into you from the time you were a baby until now. Remind yourself that there must be a return on investment on all that wisdom, teaching, preaching, prayers that you have received. Make it count for something.
10. Do not be a person that procrastinates or makes excuses. You may excuse yourself today, but your future will not excuse you.

People that leave a legacy are moved, motivated and inspired by the fact that they hold a position that will influence future generations, grandchildren that will come out of them. What they do now determines whether blessings or a curse will follow long after they are gone. I choose to be a conduit that transmits generational blessing. Therefore I am motivated to unleash all my potential.

Church in the Community – 10 Things a Church Can Do to Transform a Community

In Christianity on November 2, 2010 by powerthought4today

1. A community church that is serious about its assignment in the community, realizes the weight its responsibility in the transformation of that community.

2. The church cannot begin to affect the community without addressing the fundamental, foundational issues of spiritual strongholds that have bedeviled that community since its inception.

3. It takes visionary apostolic leadership with a strong prophetic anointing to tackle territorial issues in that community

4. Extraordinary transformation will require extraordinary sacrifice and discipline to pray and fast first and being led by the Holy Spirit begin to implement His programmes.

5. A community cannot be transformed by someone who does not know how to interpret the times and seasons. It takes a special grace of God to be able to effectively preach the gospel of the kingdom to the poor.

6. The leadership must be willing to lay aside their comforts, seek the face of the Lord relentlessly and passionately execute their duties in that community.

7. The church must address the principalities that control the municipalities they function in. Without this the demonic powers will continue to run the show with you thinking you are in charge. They must submit to you authority. The prophet Ezekiel did not go into the valley of the dry bones negotiating with the spirit if death that had control over that place. He went in as a man of God with higher rank and took control of the situation to bring life.

8. The leadership must craft a prolonged strategy of prayer, preaching and praise and worship in order to get things moving and sustaining the atmosphere in that church and community.

9. A community cannot be transformed under a closed heaven. The heavens must open and the church needs to begin to arise and take its place and set free the captive, open prison doors for those that are bound.

10. If you are going to be a change agent and birth community transformation, you must have love and a passion first and foremost for the things of God and then for your community.

10 Nuggets That Will Help You Make Quality Choices

In Uncategorized on October 22, 2010 by powerthought4today

Faced with an array of alternatives, overwhelming options and indeed lots of decisions to make one may simply abscond from their responsibility to be decisive and leave decisions to the last – minute or simply take the easy way out. Most of the time, the complexity can be minimised by realizing that you usually have only two major alternatives, to choose or not to choose. The longer you stay in the indecisive mode, is the more difficult it becomes to decide.

I would like to help you as I share ten nuggets that will help you make quality choices.

  1. Quality choices will inevitably result in a good quality life, there is no easy way out.
  2. Be an active participant in your own life. Do not watch your life unfolding as if you do not have the ability to choose how you want it to be.
  3. Make deliberate choices daily. When you rise every morning, you are faced with a choice to either get out of bed or to stay in bed, to choose between completion or complacency, to be true to yourself or to live a double life.
  4. Take responsibility for your choices. Take ownership of the results of your choices whether they are good or bad. You can always make better choices next time.
  5. Life will give you feedback on the quality of your choices. What you see in your day – to – day is nothing but results, simple feedback. When you get feedback, pick up the lessons learnt and move on.
  6. By choosing not to choose, you have made a choice. Therefore the thief called procrastination will eventually steal your opportunity to choose and make progress.
  7. You choose your future today, but most importantly the future of the generations that come after you. Those choices will determine the kind of legacy you leave behind.
  8. In terms of choices, the past matters. The today you are experiencing is in essence the result of the choices you made yesterday.
  9. How you were born to the wrong set of parents, grew up in the wrong neighbourhood maybe the case, but the power to choose what kind of parent you will be remains yours to give up.
  10. Some years ago I got tired of the results that my life was producing and I decided that there must be more than this and I dedicated my life to God, to love and to serve Him and I have been choosing to follow Him daily ever since that day. My life has never been the same and I am glad I made that choice. Choose, change, challenge and you will never be the same again.

10 Reasons Why You Must Develop A Winning Attitude

In Uncategorized on October 22, 2010 by powerthought4today

Winning is first and foremost an attitude that one needs to have before they experience victory. A person cannot go into battle or a challenge with a defeated mind and expect to win. Whether you view yourself as a winner or a loser is entirely up to you. Bad things could have happened to you in the past but what will keep you going is the fact that you have the determination and mental attitude that will cause you to lay claim to that which is yours. I would like you to know that you can have a winning attitude that will enable you to have victory through faith, hope and determination. I would like to share with you ten reasons why you must develop a winning attitude.

  1. A person with a winning attitude approaches life with the conviction that good things are supposed to happen to him. Therefore it is a life filled with expectation.
  2. The power of association can affect how perceptions and attitudes are formed and fostered in one’s mind. The true winner ensures that he only partners with people who have a shared value – system with him
  3. A person with a winning attitude is unstoppable because he sees possibilities with his mind’s eye and goes after them.
  4. The tenacity and drive of a person within whom the winning attitude resides causes him to overcome life – threatening, gut wrenching, absolutely difficult adverse circumstances to produces the results he wants.
  5. The person with a winning attitude knows absolutely no limits and he remains resolute that the higher the odds stacked against him is the deeper the hunger he develops for his achievement.
  6. The winning attitude demands that one blazes a trail and creates a legacy of phenomenal success instead of following the path of mediocrity often travelled by others.
  7. It does not require talent to develop a winning attitude. Where the attitude is present, zeal and determination makes up for the limited skill.
  8. I am adamant that a negative attitude developed by anyone who wants things to change in life is an act of severe sabotage to one’s actions.A good attitude wins friends where it doesn’t win in the battle for position, wealth and fame
  9. True champions do not win at “all costs”, They consider that to achieve victorious results in business or in sport the whilst being true to their own integrity and identity. They play according to the rules.
  10. The winner knows that he must continue to improve on his previous performance, therefore he continues to study, prepare and subject himself to the coaching and training of a trusted mentor.

In conclusion, winning in life is not so much about the accolades and awards but it is about the attitude one develops and the kind of mindset they develop in the process of overcoming and advancing in their chosen pursuit.
